How To Make Mushroom Chilli Recipe?

Here are the instructions to make this healthy snack recipe of mushroom chilli which is divided into three parts

  • Mushroom Marination
  • The Sauce
  • Cooking

Step 1: For Making The Mushroom Marination

  • 300g fresh mushrooms (button or cremini),
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (Low sodium)
  • 1 tbsp of cornflour
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions:

  1. Take the mushrooms, wash them, and cut them as you desire.
  2. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, cornflour, and sesame oil for marination.
  3. Add the quartered mushrooms and toss to coat. Set aside for about 15–20 minutes.

Step 2: For Making The Mushroom Chilli Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (Low-sodium)
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup (Low-sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (According to the preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (According to the taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 minced garlic cloves

Instructions:

  1. Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, rice vinegar, honey or maple syrup, and Sriracha sauce in a mixing bowl. Combine everything thoroughly.
  2. Also, add the minced ginger and garlic. Set aside after thorough mixing.

Step 3: For Cooking The Mushroom Chilli

  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1 green chilli, thinly sliced (adjust to taste)
  • 2-3 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a nonstick skillet over medium heat add olive oil. Add the marinated mushrooms and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until they release moisture and begin to brown. Remove the mushrooms from the pan and set them aside.
  2. Add olive oil to the same pan. Also add sliced onions, julienned carrots, and sliced bell peppers. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables begin to soften.
  3. Finally, add the cooked mushrooms to the pan with the sautéed vegetables. Also, pour the prepared sauce over the vegetables and mushrooms. Although, to coat everything evenly, toss everything together.
  4. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.

Your mushroom chilli is ready to serve!

Tips:

  1. Serve this hot and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  2. You can serve this also as a snack with mint chutney or with quinoa or brown rice.
