  • Chocolate: Chocolate has some traces of caffeine which calms the LES. Also, chocolate releases serotonin when consumed. Serotonin is the hormone that regulates moods, including calming stress. However, this hormone calms the LES, thereby causing acid reflux.
  • Citrus Fruits: Citrus fruits have high amounts of citric acid, which cause the gut to produce more acid. As a result, the gut is more occupied, increasing the chances of acid reflux symptoms. So, always keep in mind that you won’t experience acid reflux symptoms every time you eat citrus fruits. 
  • Coffee: Coffee is an important part of many individuals’ day. The presence of caffeine helps a lot of people kick-start their day. However, the caffeine in coffee will hinder the functioning of the LES. So, one cup of coffee a day might not exacerbate your acid reflux symptoms. Consuming high-caffeine coffee is not good if you have recurring acid reflux symptoms, so you should limit your consumption.
